The Most Holy Place in Tsuen Wan 

西方寺，位於荃灣老圍三疊潭的佛教聖地，背靠大帽山，前向三疊潭，群山環抱，完全符合傳統風水「背山面水」之格局及享有冬暖夏涼的先決條件。擁有四十年歷史的西方寺全寺面積接近140,000平方尺，成為荃灣區內最有歷史及最充滿佛教氣息的地方之一。

Western Monastery, located in Lo Wai Road, Sam Dip Tam, Tsuen Wan, is a holy place of Buddhism.Western Monastery possesses an excellent geographic location, which is surrounded by Tai Mo Shan and Sam Dip Tam. This geographic pattern in Fung Shui, the major and traditional culture in Chinese, is defined as very good and beneficial to the subsequent generations. Western Monastery possesses at least 40-year history and its area is approximately 140,000 square fit, becoming the most historical and most holy place with full of Buddhism sense in Tsuen Wan.



西方寺是一個雄偉壯觀地方，它的風格是主要模仿古代宮廷建築而成。當你一踏進寺內，你頓時感受到其清幽的環境及文化氣息，是一個使你一瞬間心境平靜的地方。

Western Monastery is an antique Chinese palace with most of the ancient-style buildings inside. While stepping into the monastery, you will immediately find the place how peaceful and tranquil it is and become calm and silent in your mind.

若然你是佛教的追隨者，相信你定必對於西方寺及寺內的文化歷史及建築等會感到有興趣。假若你並不是佛教的愛好者，我們建議你也可前來抱著一個學者及尊敬的態度認識我國最大的宗教－佛教的起源及基本思想內容，同時抱著欣賞的態度，觀摩一下這個莊嚴的宗教聖地！

Surely if you are the follower of Buddhism, you will find out a lot of interesting and valuable history and culture elements inside Western Monastery, and also you will get familiar with the buildings. 

Please don’t worry about it if you are not the lover of Buddhism. This is a good timing to learn more about Buddhism, the biggest religion in China, and to understand the history development and the core concept of Buddhism with full respect. Besides, you can also make use of this opportunity to appreciate this holy monastery in Tsuen Wan.

SPD4459 文化遊蹤篇壹–三棟屋博物館 Cultural & Historic Footprints Chapter 1: Sam Tung Uk Museum

一連幾日嚐試了令人食指大動的中西式美食後，我們「六悠遊」決定到於荃灣區搜尋不同文化及歷史的痕跡，一起文化遊蹤，「荃」方位搜羅荃灣區最有文化及歷史氣息的景點。

We did try so many delicious and mouth-watering foods in the past few days! Now, we, SIX GREEN, are going to move on to search for Cultural and Historic Footprints in Tsuen Wan, feeling the most cultural atmosphere  in Tsuen Wan.

荃灣最歷史悠久的村莊
The Most Historical Village in Tsuen Wan

現在，我們身邊愈來愈多高樓大廈，要看到古屋並不容易，但其實也不需要穿越時光隧道，只要到位於荃灣的三棟屋村便可以了。在那裡，你除了可以見識到古屋的建築風格，更可以認識到荃灣區的演變過程，對歷史有興趣又喜歡拍照的朋友千萬不要錯過！

Nowadays, there are more and more state-of-the-art buildings around us. It is not easy to find the antique houses. To find them, a time tunnel is not needed for you to go back to the past. You can just go to Sam Tung Uk Village located in Tsuen Wan. You will see the changes of Tsuen Wan in this place and you can also see the antique houses there. 

三棟屋分作三個部份，每部分均由一條棟樑承托著，這就是三棟屋名字的由來了。三棟屋村於十八世紀由陳姓客家族人所興建，並於一九八一年被列入為法定古蹟，現在已有二百多年歷史，亦由住宅演變成歷史博物館。館內展出村民以往的生活物品及家居佈置等，充分展現出荃灣區由昔日的農村變成今天的現代化都市，絕對值得參觀。

The name 'Sam Tung Uk' means 'three rows of dwelling' in Chinese. Sam Tung Uk Village belongs to The Chans, the Hakka people. It was declared a historical moment since 1981 as it is a 200-year-old walled village. It is now becoming a museum to show how was the village life in the past. The displays include the belongings and the decorations of the people living there. You can understand the old life and the development of Tsuen Wan easily through this museum.
