We did visit a lot of sight-seeing attractions about Cultural and Historic Footprints in Tsuen Wan. We, SIX GREEN, are feeling tired now. Therefore, we would like to use some of Simple Life activities in Tsuen Wan for recovering our energy and relaxing to continue our journey in Tsuen Wan!

The Most Sight-worthy Hiking Trail in Tsuen Wan

天氣最近開始涼快了，意味著即將踏入秋季。在這個季節裡，你最想約朋友和家人去哪裡玩？去旅行，野餐，還是燒烤......嗯！對我而言，首選一定是行山，它是最好的減壓方法。作為一個住在荃灣的居民，今次我建議大家去行下圓墩郊遊徑。

Recently, the weather is getting cool, that means autumn is coming soon. What activity would you prefer doing with your friends and family in autumn? Go travel, picnic, or barbecue... Well, going hiking must be my first choice and it is the best way to relieve our pressure. As a resident living in Tsuen Wan, this time I suggest you guys going hiking in Yuen Tun Country Trail.

圓墩郊遊徑位於大欖郊野公園，接近荃灣，由青龍頭入口出發，經過深井聚水塘，沿青龍頭引水道向上走，就會抵達圓墩。

另外，請小心注意，初時山路較崎嶇，盡量緩步行走，去前一日要休息充足，時刻提高警覺，減低弄傷的機會。

Yuen Tun Country Trail is located at Tai Lam Country Park where closing to Tsuen Wan. Starting from the entrance of Tsing Lung Tau, and then passing Sham Tseng Settlement Basin. After that, follow the catchwater to walk upward, finally you will arrive at Yuen Tun.


Besides, as a friendly reminder, please be careful that the mountain road is too rugged. We suggest you to take a good rest before the day going hiking. Being a smart hiker, the chance of injury can be reduced.

抵達後，你會發現有數座客家村屋，但已經沒有人居住了。你知道箇中的原因嗎？其實圓墩原本是一個村落，但在興建大欖涌水塘時受到影響，所以村民已經搬離了原居地。雖然政府現已將圓墩村改作民安隊訓練營地，但亦保留了這幾間村屋，圓墩村古屋在2010年1月被評為香港三級歷史建築並向公眾開放，讓遊人行山時可以順道參觀昔日圓墩村的景況。

Arriving at Yuen Tun, you will find that there are a few number of Hakka houses, but nobody lives there anymore. Do you know the reason behind such situation? Actually, Yuen Tun is a Hakka walled village long time ago. Since the local villagers were influenced when constructing the Tai Lam Chung Reservoir, so they finally moved out their homes. Nowadays, Yuen Tun village already changed as the Civil Aid Service's Yuen Tun Training Camp by Hong Kong Government. Yuen Tun village is still conserved by the government though. This rural village also rated as the Grade III historic buildings in Hong Kong in January 2010. Public are welcomed to visit it. If you are interested in learning Hong Kong culture, you must hold on the chance because it has the great historical value.

之後的路段很容易行走。一帶都是以植林區為主，沿途除了可以欣賞不同種類的植物，也出現了小昆蟲的踪跡。當走得更高時，可以欣賞到沿路一帶優美的景色。沿途亦會經過多條十字路口，若果感到疲倦，可選擇任何一條路口離開郊遊徑。

Leaving Yuen Tun village, the road is much easier to walk. Walking along the plantation road, not only do you look at different types of plant  species, but you can also find the rare insect species. When you go higher, the wonderful views will appear in front of your eyes. On the way, you will pass along many crossroads. If you are too tired or uncomfortable, you can leave through any crossroads.

走到大欖涌水塘北端，就是終點了，可依着路牌指示，到永吉橋附近的草地休息。若要離開這裏，亦有多條山路小徑選擇，但大多都要花上個多小時的步程，所以謹記要預留充足的時間。


The finishing point is at northern end of Tai Lam Chung Reservoir. You can go to the meadow nearby Wing Kut Bridge if you want to take a break. If not, you can choose any alley to leave. However, many alleys are quite long, you have to spend more than 1 hour to walk away from the country trail. Please plan your schedule well before going to Yuen Tun Country Trail. 說起荃灣的行山路徑，不得不提起城門水塘。

城門水塘位於新界中部，是郊遊、燒烤、接觸大自然、攝影及緩步跑等的好去處，加上有不同交通工具直達該處，以及有大量的燒烤地方及大面積的郊遊地方，使這裡每逢假日都有不少遊人。

Shing Mun Reservoir is located in the centre of New Territories and is a good place for picnic, barbecue, approaching the nature, taking photos, jogging and hiking etc.

The reason of Shing Mun Reservoir to become a very popular place in weekends and holidays is that the transportation is very convenient. Visitors can utilize different transportation tools to go there. Besides, there are a plenty of barbecue area and a large area of ​​picnic sites.

 

今次介紹的路徑就是由波蘿壩至鉛礦坳，以波蘿壩﹝城門水塘專線小巴站﹞作起點，先循城門水塘西面的限制車路走到城門水塘北端，再沿限制車路往鉛礦坳，然後依原路返回起點。

We would like to introduce the path from Pineapple Dam to Lead Mine Pass. Starting at Pineapple Dam, you will first pass through the west of Shing Mun Reservoir to the north of the reservoir, and then you can walk along the restricted car road to go to Lead Mine Pass. Finally, you can just simply follow the same route to back to the beginning.

整段路程差不多都是樹蔭夾道，在其中行走，除了感到舒暢外，還可以享受一下「森林浴」及天然氧氣吧。

Walking through Shing Mun Reservoir in the journey, you can see a lot of green plants in your sideways. You will find it relaxing while you are walking in the “forest”. And certainly, you can enjoy the unlimited fresh air and oxygen bar!

此外，你還會經過城門水塘的大城石澗，它是遠足界所選的九大名澗之一 ， 澗面寬闊、水源充足，是城門水塘的主石澗。那裏有水有石有草地，景觀開闊，很美，途中可沿石階 到那裏遊玩一番。

Besides, along the path, you will pass through the stream called Tai Shing Stream. It is one of the nine famous streams in Hong Kong. The surface of the streams is very broad and filled with unlimited water. It is the main stream in Shing Mun Reservoir. Visitors can enjoy this beautiful scenery and release the daily pressure over there.

在沿路上都會見到一些猴子，對一些城市人來説可算是一個難得接觸野生動物的機會。

還有，在經過城門標本林時會看到有許多不同品種的植物，它是全港唯一一個活生生的標本林，城門標本林佔地四公頃，這裏存護了不少本土的稀有及瀕危植物，回程時大家可以順道參觀。

Moreover, you will see numerous wild monkeys when you walk along the road. It is a precious chance for visitors and hikers to get in touch with wild animals.

You can find a wide variety of plants in Shing Mun Reservoir, especially for the arboretum. It is the large habitat and it consists of a large number of living sample of plants in Hong Kong. This arboretum covers four hectares and contains lots of local endangered plants, which is very valuable to the environment!

這條路線是行山人士的熱門路線，在假日行走，頗為安全，而且交通亦算方便。單從波蘿壩到鉛礦坳來回往返，大約需三小時，若同時到大城石澗和標本林遊玩及參觀，則最好預五個小時。

This hiking path is very popular among mountain hikers, especially in holidays. The difficulty of this path is not that complicated and the transporatation is quite convenient around that area. Starting from Pineapple Dam and ending at Lead Mine Pass just take around 3 hours. If you want to continue to go to Tai Shing Stream and Shing Mun arboretum, it is suggested to reserve 5 hours for walking to there.

前往起點大帽山閘口 (To the starting point)

於荃灣巴士總站乘坐51號巴士前往錦上路方向至郊野公園站下車。然後往巴士行駛的反方向走，向上走到大帽山道，再步行約20分鐘到大帽山郊野公園遊客中心。

Taking a bus route no. 51 towards Kam Sheung Road and alighting from Country Park Station, then walking up to Tai Mo Shan Road around 20 minutes with the opposite direction until to Tai Mo Shan Country Park Visitor Centre.

荃灣區，位於香港新界西南並擁有一條長長的海岸線，面積約六千公頃，現時居住人口接近三十五萬。

於五十年代，荃灣設立不同紡織業及輕工業的工廠，部分工廠更流傳至今。至六十年代，香港政府將荃灣定位發展成為第一個衛星城市及安排一連串城市規劃，包括興建荃灣線等，揭開荃灣發展的序幕。

Tsuen Wan District, is located at the south west of New Territories in Hong Kong and possesses a very long coastline up to Tun Mun District. With its area of 6000 hectare, the population is now approximately 350,000.

In 1950s, there were numerous factories with the mass production of clothing and light industry. 

In 1960s, The Hong Kong Government implemented certain policies and positioned Tsuen Wan as the first satellite city to be under-developed, including constructing Tsuen Wan Line by MTR.

時至今日，經過香港政府近年來的規劃，荃灣的發展重心逐漸轉向商業，不同的高樓大廈及優質酒店相繼落成；同時，荃灣亦擁有不同休閑地方及景點，例如城門水塘、三棟屋、圓玄學院、海濱長廊、大型購物商場及不同享負成名的美食等，滿足區內不同人士的需要，逐漸將荃灣打造成商住兩用的社區。

Nowadays, with the continuous urbanization in current 50 years by the Hong Kong Government, Tsuen Wan District has been stepping forward to be more commercial-oriented in accordance with the non-stop construction of different modern commercial buildings and quality hotels in these few years and in the near future. Simultaneously, there are a lot of recreational facilities and appealing attractions in Tsuen Wan, such as Shing Mun Reservoir, Sam Tung Uk Village, The Yuen Yuen Institute, Tsuen Wan Waterfront Promenade, shopping malls and local snacks etc. All these facilities can successfully satisfy all the people needs in the society, to be integrated Tsuen Wan Districted with both commercial and residential elements.

荃灣區得以這麼完善的發展絕對歸功於它的交通配套。現時荃灣區擁有兩條港鐵線路：荃灣線及西鐵線，有助方便市民及遊客進出荃灣區。此外，荃灣區毗鄰青衣半島、青馬大橋、三號幹線及屯門公路等，方便人士前往九龍市區、屯門、元朗及香港國際機場，四通八達，為荃灣區發展立下重要基石！

The all-round development in Tsuen Wan District must be contributed from the Transportation facilities and infrastructures.

Currently, the Tsuen Wan Line and West Railway Line by MTR can create very high convenience benefits indeed. Besides, residences and visitors can utilize Tsing Yi Peninsula, Ching Ma Bridge, Express-highway Route No.3, and Tun Mun Road to easily access Kwai Ching District, Kowloon, Tun Mun, Yuen Long and Hong Kong International Airport.

To conclude, the comprehensive urbanization and well-planned transportation system must be an important milestone for the long-term development to Tsuen Wan District.
